Menopausal Medicine

Perimenopause is the time leading up to menopause when symptoms begin for women. Although it generally begins in their 40s, perimenopause can also begin in their 30s.  It is very important to eat healthy, exercise, and find healthy ways to cope with stress at this time.

A woman technically begins menopause when she has gone without a period for twelve months and there are no other causes such as pregnancy or illness to cause it.  Sometimes called "the change  of life," menopause may cause hormone related symptoms for women including digestive problems, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, or urinary dysfunction.  There are safe and effective treatment options available for the management of menopause including Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHT)

Our practice has experienced tremendous success in improving our patients' quality of life by converting over 90% of patients previously on conventional hormone replacement therapy to Bioidentical Hormones.

The goals of BHT are to:

  • Alleviate the symptoms caused by the natural decrease in production of hormones in the body.
  • Give the protective benefits which were originally provided by naturally occurring hormones.
  • Re-establish hormone balance.

If you are experiencing symptoms as listed below, it is important that you relate these to your physician.  To schedule an appointment with our practice concerning perimenopause or menopause, please call 270.444.9199.
